Outage records and uptime calculation for EV charging ports.
Charger Uptime is an offline iPhone and iPad app for the people who keep public EV charging ports running. You record outages as they happen, mark which minutes are excludable, and the app calculates a trailing twelve-month uptime percentage per port.
The app uses the equation published in 23 CFR § 680.116(b):
μ = ((525,600 − (T_outage − T_excluded)) ÷ 525,600) × 100
525,600 is the number of minutes in a year. T_outage is the total recorded outage
minutes inside the trailing twelve months. T_excluded is the part of that time
attributable to electric utility interruptions, vehicle faults, scheduled maintenance, vandalism,
or natural disasters.
Because the regulation only allows those minutes to be excluded when the operator can demonstrate the port would otherwise have been operational, the app will not exclude an outage until you have added a note or an attachment to it.
Maintaining more than 97% uptime leaves 15,768 minutes of chargeable downtime in a year. The dashboard shows how much of that remains for each port, so you can see whether a port is heading for trouble before the year closes.
The app works entirely offline. No account is required and nothing is sent anywhere. See the privacy policy.
